Bill Clinton Statue Unveiled in Kosovo

Ethnic Albanians watch from their terraces behind the covered statue of former US President Bill Clinton before his arrival in Pristina, Kosovo, November 1, 2009. Clinton arrived in Pristina to attend the unveiling of the 11 1/2-foot (3.5-meter) statue of himself on a key boulevard that also bears his name. Following the 1998-99 war, authorities in Pristina changed the name of the capital city's thoroughfare from Vladimir Lenin Street to Bill Clinton Boulevard. Clinton is widely viewed as a hero in Kosovo because his military actions and those of NATO are thought to have saved countless lives by driving out Serbian forces. The statue's hand holds a portfolio with the date March 24, 1999--the day that NATO bombing started. (AP Photo/Visar Kryeziu)
