Defense contractor EOD Technology (EODT) of Tennessee is being sued by its own subcontractor, Kuwait-based MAKS General Trading & Contracting, for stealing prefabricated homes built for American soldiers stationed at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. In its lawsuit, MAKS claims that on October 23, 2009, a group of mercenaries from EODT stole 90 modular homes that the subcontractor was hired to build outside the air field. The paramilitary team, equipped with assault weapons, allegedly held MAKS workers at gunpoint while they loaded the housing onto flatbed trucks and drove away.

In February 2009, MAKS signed a contract to build temporary housing for EODT personnel and, in turn, EODT agreed to protect the MAKS compound. A dispute regarding payment developed, leading MAKS to hold off delivery of some of the modules, and EODT’s armed seizure of them.
