Female soldiers in the U.S. Army may be getting a new uniform specifically designed to fit a woman’s body. The plan is to make the new uniform form-fitting while not showing off “any curves,” Major Sequana Robinson, assistant product manager for uniforms at Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier, told Stars and Stripes. “It is just a better fit for the female body. It sets off a more professional look.”
The changes came about after the Army surveyed a number of female personnel about current uniforms, which were designed for men. Staff Sergeant Jessika Malott said: “The cut of the [current] uniform and a female’s body type usually leaves us looking like a duffel bag.”
The Army plans to have the new uniform available within two to three years, at which time there will be more than 70 combinations of sizes for coats and trousers,
