Pakistani Doctor Who Helped U.S. Kill Bin Laden Faces Treason Charge

Saturday, October 08, 2011
Dr. Shakil Afridi
Dr. Shakil Afridi, the Pakistani doctor who aided the U.S. effort to locate Osama bin Laden, faces the possibility of being tried for treason by Pakistan’s government.

A special panel charged with investigating the U.S. raid in May that killed bin Laden has recommended treason charges for Afridi, who has been under arrest since July.

Afridi set up a fake vaccination program in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad, where bin Laden was hiding, to obtain a DNA sample of al-Qaeda’s leader so the U.S. could be sure they had the right man before going after him.

If charged and convicted of treason, Afridi could be sentenced to death.

U.S. officials have lobbied Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency, which is detaining Afridi, to gain his release.

the us uses people for its own end. they could care less what happens to him otherwise why chance it? in the us if the cia thought someone was helping another country, they would do their utmost to put him away and like forever. consider that he helped the us kill four citizens of pakistan along with bin laden. isn't killing innocent people murder in any country. the us somehow do not consider killing citizens in another country a crime. it's only a crime if it is done to the us. others don;t count. the cia and fbi are excluded from the us constitution. they are a separate entity with obama's approval. pity.
