Senator Who? Menendez Holds Press Release Record, but Earns Blanks in New Jersey

Thursday, March 10, 2011
Voters in New Jersey don’t have much to say about their junior U.S. senator, Democrat Robert Menendez, even though he was a press release machine last year.

In 2010, Menendez’s office distributed 773 news announcements, a rate of more than two a day. This total was 147 more than the second place finisher, Senator Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma), who put out 626.

Menendez’s volume of press releases has not made him more familiar with New Jersey voters. A recent Rutgers-Eagleton poll showed that even though he has been in office five years, 38% surveyed had no opinion of him. Another 34% did view him favorably, while 28% had an unfavorable opinion.

The Cuban community in NJ have Bob Menendez's back. He is himself a Cuban American who has done a great deal for his community and his people in Hudson County. Unlike the rabid, delusional whackjobs in Miami, the Cuban Community in NJ is more sophisticated, integrated and with a much softer approach to the Cuban problem. Bob knows full well what that is and he works towards a resolution eagerly but quietly. While he condemns the Castro regime, he realizes the suffering of his people both, there and here and what pains of exile have been to all. He attempts to soften the hostilities, really listens to his constituency and works towards a resolution that will help all. The Cuban community in NJ is the second largest in the US and that is the reason why he seems to be silent yet continues to be re-elected time after time. He is a well-liked politician by his people. Bob Toricelli is another ardent advocate of the Cuban community in NJ and has done a great deal for the cause quietly. He is, of course, well liked and backed. Both Bobs work in unison on the issues of Cuba. See that, gringos, we are not all the same! And not all Cubans are in Miami either. What a surprise, eh?
