Bank robberies could become a thing of the past if financial institutions follow the lead of those in Illinois. Two years ago, banks in that state began inserting GPS tracking devices into bundles of bills, and since then, robberies have declined. The tracking devices were credited for foiling a bank robbery on December 30 in Calumet City, after three men made off with $9,000 from TCF Bank. A credit-card-sized GPS slipped between some bills led police directly to the suspects shortly after the heist.
