Drug Industry to Spend $150 Million on TV Ads Supporting Obama Health Care

Monday, August 10, 2009

President Barack Obama’s newfound friendship with the drug industry’s top lobbyist is beginning to pay off. The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), which represents drug companies in Washington, DC, is planning to launch a $150 million advertisement campaign to support President Obama’s healthcare reform plan, with the first TV ads expected to run this month during Congress’ August recess.

The large advertising budget is greater than what Republican presidential candidate John McCain spent on TV commercials for his entire campaign last year (Obama spent $236 million), and it is more than any other group supporting the reform effort will likely spend, including labor unions and other business groups backing the president. Although the drug industry has promised to trim $80 billion in costs from the healthcare system over a 10-year period, it is expected to make millions from new customers who gain access to health insurance if the reform plan goes into effect.

In his first paragraph in the above link, Kirkpatrick clearly writes about the same ol' "somebody said about what somebody said" Bushchit. There is no substantiation for any part of this story, and no ads sponsored by Big Pharma on TV have shown support for Obama's health care plan. However, what has been shown yesterday, were ads sponsored by AARP in favor of the plan. This is further indication that the seniors of America will be benefactors of the plan, and the LIEsites who have been telling us that AARP is against Obama have been lying to us all along!

Wallenchinsky's article, in the second paragraph he writes that REPORTEDLY Obama gave Phama assurances (cut a deal). Who can tell me that this is NOT another case of a lying liar fabricating a story that the gullible reader will swollow? LIEsites on the internet spin Bushchit, and this is proof that the Conservatives aren't just part of the problem. They ARE the problem!

So - the House bill cuts Medicare to help pay for the reform - and the White House / PhRMA deal gives drug companies a "free at home" card to raise prices of Medicare drugs - GREAT - so the White House continues to orchestrate chaos - So - now my 2012 tax bill is 52% and I face paying an added 25% for my drugs - What a deal - all for reducing my cost of healthcare -
