Ex-Porn Actress Told She Can’t Teach Middle School Mostly because of Lying, Not Sex

Stacie Halas, a former porn actress known as Tiffany Six, was told by a three-person board that she won’t be getting her job back as a science teacher at Richard B. Haydock Intermediate School in Oxnard.

Although the Commission on Professional Competence unanimously concluded that Halas would not be able to overcome her notoriety as a porn actress between 2005 and 2007, Judge Julie Cabos-Owen singled out Halas’ “propensity for dishonesty” as a primary reason not to let her back in the classroom.

“While (Halas) failed to establish that she can be trusted as a role model for children or an example of redemption, the circumstances of this case most certainly demonstrate that one's decisions and conduct, particularly continual deceit, must bring with them certain consequences,” Cabos-Owen wrote.

Halas, 32, was fired last April by the school board after her short film career became known. The Camarillo resident said she reluctantly took the work after breaking up with a boyfriend left her in financial trouble. Pornography is not illegal and she has not been accused of committing any crimes.

She quit working in adult films before accepting the teaching position. Halas said she lied about her porn background when confronted by officials because of shame, but that some of her comments were taken out of context.

Halas’ attorney argued during a six-day hearing before the all-woman panel that she could continue to be an effective teacher, but district Superintendent Jeff Chancer maintained her presence would be a “recurring disruption” and she was no longer a fit role model for students. Cabos-Owen concurred. “Given the viral and infinite nature of the Internet, an imminent end to (Halas') notoriety does not appear likely,” she wrote.

Halas was initially outed by students who recognized her online, but officials didn’t respond until other teachers showed them videos they had downloaded on their smart phones.

Halas can appeal the commission’s ruling to the Ventura County Superior Court.
