Name: Stapleton, Craig Roberts
Current Position: Ambassador

Craig Roberts Stapleton served as the United States Ambassador to France from June 27, 2005, until the end of the presidency of George W. Bush. He was also commissioned to Monaco, on November 22, 2006. In 1971 he married George W. Bush’s cousin, Dorothy. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Stapleton received hissecondary school education at Phillips Exeter Academy and earned a BA (magna cum laude) from Harvard College. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School.

 
Stapleton served as president of Marsh and McLennan Real Estate Advisors of New York from 1982 until 2001. Stapleton also partnered with George W. Bush in the ownership of the Texas Rangers baseball team from 1989-1998.
 
Under former President George H.W. Bush, he served on the Peace Corps National Advisory Council..
 
From 2001 to 2004, Stapleton served as US Ambassador to the Czech Republic. In 2004, he served as Connecticut State Chairman for the re-election campaign of President George W. Bush, and in 2005 he served on the Board of Directors of the Allegheny Properties, Metro PCS, TB Woods and Winston Partners.
 
Since 1996, Stapleton has donated $99,750 to Republican candidates and causes, including Peter Coors, Rudolph Giuliani, George W. Bush, Alphonse D’Amato, Denis Hastert and the Republican National Committee, among others.
