Name: Skibine, George
Current Position: Former Acting Assistant Secretary
A member of the Osage nation of Oklahoma, George T. Skibine practiced law before joing the Bureau of Indian Affairs. In 1995, he took over as the director of the Office of Indian Gaming Management, a position he has held ever since. In 2004, he was also appointed the acting interior deputy assistant secretary for Policy and Economic Development. Skibine retained these two jobs when, in May 2008, he was tapped to replace Carl Artman as the head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
