Name: Link, James
Current Position: Previous Administrator

James E. Link was named GIPSA Administrator on October 17, 2005. Link is a veteran of the cattle business and current owner of the Link Cattle Company of Crowley, Texas. He has a bachelor's degree in business with minors in economics and psychology from Emporia State University and an MBA and a Certificate of Ranch Management from Texas Christian University.

 
After managing the trust and estate property for the El Paso National Bank in Texas, Link was assistant vice president and manager of the ranch management department at Oppenheimer Industries, Inc., in Kansas City, Missouri, where he managed nine client-owned ranches located in six different states—comprising over one million acres and including more than 18,500 cows and several thousand stocker cattle. He was responsible for the property management of 22 client-owned ranches that were leased to private operators.
 
Prior to joining GIPSA, Link was director of the Ranch Management Program at Texas Christian University. He had been associated with TCU since 1979, having previously served as assistant director and associate director with the program.
 
He has served as a committee member for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, director of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raiser's Association, on the board of directors of the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, as a committee member for the State Fair of Texas, and on the Tarrant County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
